Temple of Goons

I just keep forgetting to share this, it makes me giggle. We have not yet seen the new Indian Jones movie but we recently watched the first one with Cy. We are trying to get him to like the moves we enjoyed when we were young. He is a huge fan of Daniel Laruso in the Karate Kid and can pull off a mean crane. He's loves Goonies and Back to the future too. Cy has been talking about Raiders of the Lost Ark since watching it and wants to see the new movie. This is a round about story, stick with me. Cole calls Davey Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean, "Baby" Jones. So we adopted it as well. After Cy watched Raider's of the Lost Ark, he called Indy "Davyana Jones" so now Cole calls him "Babyana Jones." Makes me smile every time. I am not sure about the new movie. I hear there are Aliens in it??? What's that about?

Magoon!

I've had busy weekends since I last blogged. Last weekend was Kanani's baby shower. Steph and Tara threw it. It was very nice, a lot of fun and good to get to see friends. Kanani's close with just a couple of weeks to go. It was a hot weekend (I won't get over it, Tara) followed by a cold week. Monday was hot enough that we broke out our new inflatable water slide. It is so much fun. Cy loved it. Cole was disinterested, which always makes you feel good for buying something new and unnecessary. Of course the heat passed in time for the long Memorial weekend. It was cold and rainy the majority of the weekend. Sunday we packed up and went to Lagoon (Cy always called it Magoon when he was little, so it carries on today) with the Jewkes'. It was a great day. The kids were busy, busy on all the kiddie rides. See photo above for a rare moment of Cole and Josie being nice to each other. They were so cute just then, they were visiting while waiting in line. Cole did not like many of the rides. He would cry and then insist he wanted to get on again, then cry. Then tell me in the middle of the ride "I'm done Mom. I'm done." The way he does when he is in trouble and on his way to time out. So I think he thought he was being punished. I felt like the mean mom. Tara and Jer were nice enough to let Cole tag along with them for a a time while we took Cy on some big rides. He's so brave. Which proves my theory that having even numbered children for amusement park purposes never works out, there's always a chicken. We rode the new ride Wicked. I was mostly afraid for Cy's life the entire ride. We liked it so much we will probably get season passes.
Uncle Mike and his girlfriend Ashley took the boys this morning to the Planetarium, which was a nice break for me and Nolan. Thanks. We went to lunch alone. No trips to the bathroom were taken. But as usual when we dine alone, Nolan listened intently to the people across from us, other people are much more interesting. La Puente has a TV now, so I watched the fourth hour of the Today show.
And this evening, we went to the Skiby's for a dinner and the Wii.

I included this photo of the boys in their new aviator sunglasses. They are so funny, I couldn't resist. That's highway to the danger zone!!

You gotta back up just a little bit, Mom

Today Cy had a Carnival at school. Cy and Cole were in line for one of the inflatables and when noticed Cole was doing the pee-pee dance. He confirmed his need to pee so I bent down to tell Cy where we were headed. As I backed up I felt something warm on my leg. Cole had dropped trou right in the middle of the line and was peeing. Right there on my leg. I was so embarrassed, but what can you do? Cy was hiding his face and all the other elementary children were wide-eyed watching. I tried to move him. Stream didn't stop. Asked him to stop. He can't do that yet. So I tried my best to shield the small children from his nudity. It was one of those moments where you really wish there was at least someone else were there to be embarrassed with. And by the way, if I saw this I would think it was funny and give an empathetic giggle and a sympathetic nod to the embarrassed mom. Nope! Everyone just looked at us like we were the creepy family. I couldn't be mad at him. He really had to pee. It is probably our fault, because we have boys, we let them go wherever. He didn't mean to pee on me. As I told Nolan the story later Cole told me "You gotta back up just a little bit, Mom. Then I won't pee on you." See the photo above for an unintentional reenactment.

Cy's playing spring t-ball. Naturally, he is the best on his team! And look how cute he looks. When you look good, you play good.

Cole wants to play. Sometimes it is hard for him to understand why he can't be out there too.

It IS the Happiest Place on Earth!

We returned last night from our trip to California. We flew out Wednesday morning, I was nervous because things started out a little shaky. I COULD NOT fall asleep the night before. At 3 a.m. after tossing and turning so much that Nolan abandoned me for the couch, I took a very hot shower and that did the trick. In the morning, we were running late as per usual, so we boarded the plane last minute. A little stressful but all was well.

We went immediately to Disneyland. We were greeted right away by Goofy. Cy was a little hesitant at first but we told him to be a good example. Cole loved all the characters. It was a beautiful day, low 70's. The park was not too crowded and it seemed that we just timed everything right. We waited 33 minutes to get on the Finding Nemo ride, that was our longest wait. Cy was brave as could be with the rides. He rode any and everything that he could. He loved Space Mountain. We rode it for the first time, got off and rode it again. The boys are one in the same though. Any ride that had loud noises and they both would have their hands over their ears.

Cy lost his front tooth while we were there. It was a sad day for me, he is growing up so fast. Luckily, the tooth fairy new where to find us.We stayed in Anaheim the first night. The next day was half a day at California Adventure and the rest of the day was at Disneyland again. California Adventure is the home of the Tower of Terrror. It is such a fun and very scary ride. At the conclusion of riding it Cy said, "What were we thinking?" We talked my mom into going on it. It was the funniest part of the whole trip. She is a huge wuss when it comes to rides. I felt a little guilty when we boarded and reminded her to watch her language. She was out of control, screaming as loud as I have ever heard. But she loved it. I thought Nolan and I would never stop laughing at her. We were on the move non-stop but still didn't cover all the ground we needed to. I think that we rode the Buzz Lightyear ride too many times. It was Cole's favorite by far. If we were in line for any other ride he would tell us, "But mom, we need to get Zurg." Zurg is Buzz's nemesis.

Thursday evening we drove to San Diego, after a small detour, admittedly my fault, we arrived at our rental house on Mission Bay. It was so cute and very comfortable for our trip. It was one block from the beach.

Friday was Sea World. We enjoyed the dolphin show and the Shamu show. The craziest thing happened while we were there. We ended up sitting right next to my cousin Heather's friend Nikki from Denver. What are the chances of that. It really is a small world after all. We gave Heather a cell phone call while we were there. We stayed all day, we got to touch a stingray, hold starfish, got soaking wet on some rides and all got way too much sun that day.

Saturday, we headed to Legoland. We would not recommend it to a friend. We left after 2 hours. That left us with sometime to relax and head to the beach. I really did not think that the boys would like it, they are NOT water babies, they are usually pretty timid around water. They loved putting their pigs in and would have gotten in if it were not so cold. Cole loved chasing the tide.

Sunday was our departure day, we wanted to be close to the airport so we were off to New Port Beach. It was BEAUTIFUL! The beaches were clean, no seaweed and there were many sea shells for the taking. We strolled around, watched some fisherman catch sea life off of the pier and had a yummy lunch. We played in the ocean a little. We were sad we found this place with so little time left. I did not get any pictures from here. I was too busy enjoying it myself.
We arrived to our car about 8 p.m. When Cole got in he said " I am so proud to have my DVD player." He meant he was happy to see his DVD player in the car. He, along with the rest of us, was ready to call it a night.

We had so much fun on this vaction. Thank you so much to my parents for taking us. It was such a special treat. One that created many fond memories for years to come.
