I always vow to be better about blogging and then life gets in the way. This seemed like an extra busy summer. Cy made All-Stars, which was awesome.....and exhausting. Lazy days of summer?!? Not so much. Anyway, it was so great to watch him. Nolan helped coach and got caught up in all the excitement, loosing sleep, buying an expensive bat, over thinking the line up, endless conversations on the phone about who should play where and so on. I think he loved every minute of it. Sometime during all of this, I came to the realization that this is probably the last summer we will get away with only this much chaos. We will forever chase around the valley with ball games, but eventually we will have to do it for two. And flip a coin for who goes to which game. I am already stressed out about it. I realize that is silly, but it is what I do best.
We played our first tournament in West Bountiful and Cy came out playing like a true All-Star. He played left field and had a catch that was fitting for ESPN's highlight reel. He happened to catch it practically at our feet since we were sitting on the line in left field. He tried to lay it cool, but he was excited. We (His fan club - The granny's, papa's and Cole) did not try to play it cool, we were over the moon about it. He was a consistent and awesome hitter too.
Anyway, we didn't fair great in the "practice tournament," but we took second place in our district tournament on our home field (extra exciting) and lost in 2 games atthe state tournament in Kaysville. We lost just in time for it to get really hot. It had been such a mild summer. So if we were going to loose anyway, we did it at just the right time.
I am proud of Cy for a great season and for always showing great sportsmanship, which unfortunately can be lost on some of the parents and even the players, even at this age. I was proud of the dedication that Nolan showed to the team and to Cy. I thank him for his sleepless nights, for rushing home from work, for keeping his cool and for teaching, not only the game of baseball, but some life lessons to our son. I love seeing them out there together.

Looking forward to doing it all over again next season.
